Will the oil spill affect the Alberta's economy?
Last Friday, a major oil pipeline just northeast of Peace River began to leak 28,000 barrels of crude oil. It is said to be Alberta's largest crude oil pipeline leak since 1975.The damage so far has been 8 acres of pond and forested areas being polluted, forcing four beavers and ten ducks to be euthanized. Complaints from the Little Buffalo First Nations reserve say that the fumes from the disaster were starting to make their children sick. The reserve is located only fourteen kilometers away from the spill. Officials say that the spill should be contained by this weekend.
