Can I recharge an air conditioner on my Grand Prix?

I strongly recommend you pay for professional service now rather than risk paying the $600-$900 later for compressor replacement. It is far easier to damage the compressor by overcharging the system than to decently charge it. I see so many questions here saying "I charged my A/C last week and it is blowing warm or hot air now... what should I do?" In the days of R12 it was easy to charge A/C systems, but R134a is a whole different story.
